Over the years we've had many people ask us if we had a service that would combine a toll-free number with a voicemail service.
We recommend Kall8 programmable toll free numbers at 6.9¢ per minute and $2 per month, billed to your credit card. Kall8 has many interesting features that you might find useful such as geographic routing and on-the-fly ring-to number switching. It is also available almost instantly. One benefit of Kall8 to keep in mind is that the 6.9¢ rate is for both instate and interstate calls, so if your instate rate is high on the other plans, maybe Kall8 would be the most cost effective if you are expecting a lot of instate inbound calls. The rate from Canada is also 6.9¢ per minute.
If you want a special toll free number that spells something, also known as a vanity toll free number, please read our article on vanity toll free numbers. Kall8 is not always going to be the best option for a vanity number as they charge $10 set-up and $10 per month for their vanity numbers. But for some of our clients, particularly our Canadian clients, this has not been a deterrent, as Kall8 is the only toll free service we offer that can be used in both the US and Canada. (The rates for Canada are the same as for the USA.)
Non-toll free voicemail
If you don't need a toll free number with your voicemail, a very economical option for voicemail would be to get a FREE voicemail number from k7.net. If you use a web based e-mail, that means you can access your voicemail free from any computer at anytime. But of course, the best thing of all is that it is FREE!
